Institute of Contemporary Music Performance
The ICMP was founded in 1986 as the Guitar Institute and Basstech, and was the first institution to provide relevant, practical and professional training for contemporary musicians. Yet, while the name and identity of the ICMP has naturally evolved over time, the underlying focus on the needs of the students has never changed.
A PERSONALISED APPROACH TO LEARNING To enable you to achieve your goals we have created a comprehensive programme of support that you can access from day one, including the development of an individual learning plan, diagnostic assessment and goal-setting and personalised advice and guidance on module choices. To enhance your learning experience, we deliver our music courses in small class sizes with high contact teaching hours. Personal tutors are made available and informal drop-in sessions are held regularly with key course staff to ensure you can access regular feedback and one to one advice and guidance.
A CREATIVE AND INSPIRING LEARNING ENVIRONMENT We continually invest in the provision of a world-class learning environment, which provides you with the best possible opportunities to develop your talent and achieve your goals.
EXPERIENCED AND INSPIRATIONAL TUTORS At the ICMP, we focus on all of these key factors, and we ensure that our industry tutors bring to the classroom an outstanding and unique mix of professional experience, academic knowledge and educational qualifications. And crucially, most of the tutors you will interact with on a day to day basis are active music industry professionals, ready to share with you their real-world experience and knowledge that is crucial to your professional and creative development.
CONNECTED TO THE GLOBAL MUSIC INDUSTRY ICMP provides you an unrivalled network of music industry connections, providing you with access to a wide range of exclusive opportunities to develop your profile and your career.
